Machakos Town MP Caleb Mutiso is a happy man after an amendment bill he proposed was passed by Parliament.
Mutiso's amendment bill sought to put strict security on the Housing Fund.
The amendment was adopted on Wednesday evening by the Finance Committee chairman Kimani Kuria before it was passed by Parliament.
"The amendment bill dictates that the Housing Fund will only go to the implementation of the Affordable Housing agenda," he said.
The MP recognised that the Affordable Housing agenda is a key pillar in President William Ruto's Bottom Up economic transformation agenda.
Civil society groups and members of the Azimio coalition had persistently raised pertinent questions on the security of the funds.
They raised an alarm that the levy could end up serving other unintended purposes other than the Affordable Housing Programme .
