Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi has pleaded with President William Ruto to crack the whip over the wastefulness of public funds.

He said that the Head of State should ensure that the taxes Kenyans will remove in the next financial year should be well utilised.

"Now that the finance bill was passed and we know it will be effective, Mr President I request that you crack the whip and ensure the funds are used to deliver the required services," Memusi said.

President William Ruto was at Ildamat Stadium in Kajiado Central for an interdenominational service.

He was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Memusi is brother to Azimio's chief agent Saitabao Ole Kanchory.

Members of Parliament last Wednesday night passed President William Ruto's proposed Finance Bill, 2023.

The Bill passed after a third reading by the National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee chairman, Kuria Kimani.

Memusi was among those who voted against the bill.

"This is a draconian and backward way of collecting revenue from our people.I don't know who told the executive that the priority of Kenyans is housed. I see a lot of insensitivity and cluelessness in this government. The unfortunate thing is that they campaigned to hustlers, yet they’ve squandered the first opportunity they got to show that they really meant what they said," he said then.

However, during the church service, the ODM MP pledged to work with President Ruto moving forward.

" I want to say this today that moving forward, I will work with you Mr President. We are on the other side but don't have a problem with you," Memusi added.

Other Kajiado Azimio MPs who were also in the service have assured the  President that there is no bad blood between them and him.

Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai echoed his Kajiado Central counterpart's words that they were committed to working with the national government.

"Kama vile ndugu yangu Memusi amesema sisi tuko pande ile ya Azimio lakini hatuna chuki na hatuna ubaya na wewe. Tunakuheshimu kama President wetu," he said.
