Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said he will not don a suit until Azimio leader Raila Odinga is sworn in as the President of Kenya.

He said he was going to be dressing in what he termed "mavazi rasmi ya maandamano (official clothing for demonstrations)".

The senator added that he already had a pair of shoes, which he was wearing at the time, fit for maandamo. He said the shoes were a gift from the youth.

"Mimi kuanzia leo sivai suti tena... The next time tunavaa suti ni wakati tunasikia Baba akisema 'Mimi Raila Amollo Odinga naapa ya kwamba nitarudisha bei ya unga ifike soo," he said.

Sifuna spoke on Tuesday during the Azimio rally at Kamukunji Grounds.

Raila has unsuccessfully vied for the presidency five times— 1997, 2002, 2013, 2017 and 2022.

The ODM leader has insisted that he won the 2022 elections but was rigged out.

It is not clear if he will vie for the top seat in 2027.

The senator asked their supporters to make a request on his behalf that he is not sent to talk to the Kenya Kwanza leaders.

"Please tell him (Raila) that Sifuna has kindly requested that you do not send him to talk to these slow people again," he said.

He joined other leaders in calling for demonstrations over the high cost of living.

"Tukianza hii maandamano kaende kaende," he added.

Sifuna is among the seven Azimio leaders chosen to represent the coalition in the bipartisan talks.
