Non-smartphone owners will now access government services.

This is after President William Ruto on Friday unveiled Gava Express which can be accessed physically by the public seeking government services.

He said that the Gava Express is modelled along Huduma Centres.

"Unlike Huduma Centers that are primarily based in county headquarters, Gava Express will provide services at the grassroots," Ruto said.

He said GavaExpress will be driven in partnership with the private sector and targets the establishment of over 300,000 outlets.

Gava Express will be available in more than 250,000 Mpesa shops, 28,000 KCB shops, 40,000 Equity shops and 22,000 Cooperative bank shops.

"We are going to work in partnership with the private sector so that government services are available not just in government offices but also in private-sector offices," Ruto said.

The milestone is part of the great strides Kenya has made in digital access since the Kenya Kwanza administration took over last year.

On Jamhuri Day last year, President  Ruto pledged that 5000 government services would be digitized and made accessible on the E-Citizen platform, to enhance service delivery, increase revenue collection, promote transparency, and eliminate corruption.

Since then, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies have embarked on the onboarding of respective services which has resulted in a significant spike in revenue generate from levies and fees charged for government services.
