Machakos woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend to death

A woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death in Machakos County.

Meshack Muthama, 33, was reportedly murdered by the suspect in Kwa Muthike area in Masinga subcounty on Sunday night.

The incident was reported to Ndithini police station in Masinga subcounty by the deceased’s father on Monday.

The matter was recorded at the station as a murder incident on OB NO 7/3/7/2023 at 2.00pm.

Machakos County police boss Patrick Lobolia said his officers swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspect immediately after they received information on the incident. The murder's motive wasn't immediately established.

“It was reported by one Isaiah Munyoto Mbewa that his son namely Meshack Muthama Munyoto aged 33 years (now deceased) was attacked by his girlfriend last night within Kwa Muthike area near Tana Bridge,” Lobolia told the Star on Monday.

Muthama is said to have profusely bled after he was allegedly stabbed in the left-hand wrist part using a sharp object.

The police boss said the deceased was rushed to Kimbimbi Hospital within Mwea subcounty in Kirinyaga County where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was transferred to Karira Funeral Home for preservation awaiting a postmortem.

“Police officers visited the scene and arrested the suspect. The scene was processed and an exhibit, a knife with no blood stains,  suspected to have been used in the commission of the offence recovered,” Lobolia said.

Lobelia said the officers visited the mortuary where the body had been moved.

He said sleuths attached to Masinga subcounty DCI headquarters had launched investigations into the incident.
