Kenya Power has said security officers are pursuing Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai following an alleged assault on one of its employees.

In a statement on Tuesday, KPLC General Manager, Human Resources and Administration Cecilia Kalungu said they are working with security agencies.

"They have vowed to ensure that justice for our employees is served," she added.

The security officers will also give recommendations on how to keep the KPLC employees safe as they carry out their duties.

"We assure employees that the Company will provide them with the necessary support and security when needed," Kalungu said.

She commended the KPLC employees for their work, urging them to keep up so they can achieve their corporate objectives.

This comes after a viral clip showed a KPLC officer being allegedly assaulted by Mbai.

Mbai claimed that the officer identified had removed electric poles leading to his house at Kitengela, Kajiado County

The officer, who had been accompanied to the MP's house by KPLC security and two regular police officers, did not retaliate.

Defending himself, Mbai said he had been invaded by the KPLC staff at his house.

"I was fighting back the people who invaded me. I had to fight back. The viral video you are talking about has been edited to only show me fighting back," he said.

The KPLC officer however said that the connection to the home was illegally installed.
