President William Ruto has adopted a new system to track the government's development progress and hold Cabinet secretaries accountable for any shortfalls.
UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala said on Wednesday the party came up with a dynamic monitoring matrix to take stock of the implementation of Ruto's manifesto and its impact on the people.
"We have come up with a matrix as a tool as a party because at the end of the day, in 2027 we are the ones who are going to be accountable to the people," Malala said.
Speaking during an interview on Spice FM, the SG said the tool enables the President to know which projects are on schedule, behind schedule and which ones are supposed to be launched.
Malala said the tool automatically apprises the President of the delayed projects and prompts him to hold the CS in charge of the ministry responsible to account.
"That tool automatically generates the performances of the CSs because if in your ministry you have 210 projects and all the projects are at 20 per cent, automatically your performance as a CS will be generated," he said.
As such, he explained, the President is able to make informed decisions based on factual information and ensure service delivery across all ministries is optimum.
"That tool has also a timekeeping aspect. Every day it counts the number of days to the elections and it pops up reminding the President that 'come on we are remaining with 1,270 days to the elections, hurry!'" Malala said.
He said one of his mandates both in and outside the Cabinet is the monitoring of the implementation of the UDA manifesto.
On June 27, the Cabinet approved the attendance of Malala at the weekly Tuesday Cabinet meetings.
Others were chairperson of the Council of Economic Advisors David Ndii, National Security advisor Monica Juma and advisor on Women Rights Harriette Chiggai.
