A boda boda rider was on Friday morning found murdered in Kitui town.
The body of Johnson Nzomo, 29, was found in the Slaughter Estate of Kitui town in the wee hours of the morning. He was known as Rasta or his dreadlock and goatee.
It is believed he was killed by unknown assailants at night. The motive of the murder was not immediately established.
Residents of the estate woke up to the sight of the body of the boda boda rider beside the road. His head bore wounds..
Police officers led by Kitui OCPD Peter Karanja arrived at the scenand took the body to Kitui County Referral Hospital morgue.
Karanja said he was too busy to talk to the media as he was investigating the murder of the father of one.
A cousin of the deceased, James Munyoki Rasta, on Thursday nightwas having a drink with friends a bar near the Kitui town slaughterhouse. At around 2am he realised he had lost his motor bike’s key.
“We are told it was when he excused himself to rush to his nearby home at Isaangwa where he picked his motor bike’s duplicate key. He was attacked on the way back,” Munyoki said.
He said Rasta was ambushed by his assailant or assailants after crossing the Kalundu river that separates his Isaangwa village home and the beer joint. He was hit on the left side of his head with a blunt object, he said.
When the Star visited the bar, his motor bike was still parked outside.
