Former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi has been arrested after he arrived in the town to lead Saba Saba protests.
In a video seen by the Star, Nderitu is seen in a police vehicle as he engages in a heated exchange with the police.
He is then heard asking what law he has broken by being in Nyahururu Town.
"The question you are not answering as a police officer, what law have we broken for being here?" he is heard asking.
A senior officer leading the arrest is then heard saying that they are only going to talk.
"Tunaenda kuongea kwa station," she said.
Nderitu was in the company of a female politician.
Azimio opted to hold countrywide demos, led by the coalition's key leaders.

The government has beefed up security across the country and counties believed to be hotspots for violence.
Raila Odinga is expected to lead a rally at the Kamukunji Grounds to launch a signature collection exercise and possibly the second phase of anti-government protests.
His Azimio co-principals will also launch the protests in other parts of the country.
This is part of the opposition's strategy to have its supporters own up to the resistance from the grassroots and ramp up their pressure against President William Ruto's administration.
In the plan, after Raila's rally in Nairobi's historic Kamukunji Grounds, the protesters will march to the Central Business District, according to the organisers.
