Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor will today appear before the Senate Adhoc Committee investigating the deaths of over 300 people in Shakahola, Kilifi County.

Others who will appear before the committee are Lands Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Njeru, CEO of Business Registration Service Kenneth Gathuma and the official Receiver of the Chakama Ranching Co Ltd.

Odour has been leading a team of pathologists in conducting autopsies on bodies exhumed from the Shakahola forest.

The team has completed autopsies for 338 bodies since the exercise began.

Ruling on extending orders suspending Finance Act

Justice Mugure Thande of the Constitutional Division is set to rule whether she will extend orders suspending the Finance Act pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

The ruling has been scheduled for 2 pm.

Two weeks ago the court suspended the implementation of the Act pending determination of the matter.

Woman in Kisii Saba Saba protests succumbs to gunshot wounds

One woman succumbed to bullet injuries she sustained during the Saba Saba protests in Kisii.

Four others are nursing wounds in hospital following the protests that turned chaotic as police faced the protesters in various parts of the town.

This increased the number of people killed during the protests to five in the country.

Ogolla visits troops in North Eastern amid operation against al Shabaab

The Chief of Defence Forces Gen Francis Ogolla has toured Kenya Defence Forces camps and Forward Operating Bases in the North Eastern, as part of morale boosting amid a new operation against al Shabaab terrorists.

Gen Ogolla visited Mandera, El Wak, Modika, and Gherille to engage the troops and assess their mission readiness.

Biden to meet Sunak amid Ukraine cluster bomb unease

US President Joe Biden has landed in the UK ahead of a Nato summit in Lithuania later this week - which comes after several allies questioned his call to send cluster bombs to Ukraine.

The UK and Canada are among those who voiced concern about supplying the bombs, which are widely banned because of the danger they pose to civilians.
