Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to come out in large numbers in a bid to support his signature collection drive.

The opposition boss said the signature collection exercise will help prove that he is not alone in the push to have government reduce the cost of living.

"We are not criminals, we just don't want to quarrel. Kenyans should understand that whatever we decide to do has a reason. The cost of living is high," he said.

"We are going to collect 15 million signatures to say that we lack faith in President William Ruto's government. This will show that I'm not alone but Kenyans are behind me. Everyone should sign."

Raila spoke on Monday while addressing Kenyans in Nairobi Central Bussiness District.

Azimio's leadership seeks to collect 10 million signatures which Raila said is to show dissatisfaction with the administration of Ruto.

"The people have started the process of taking back the power given to people to represent them. We have to know how many we are and that is why we have started collecting signatures," he said on Friday at the Kamukunji grounds.

He said the people have the power to choose who can represent them.

The Opposition is protesting over the high cost of living and high taxes imposed on Kenyans by the recently passed Finance Act.

However, his move was not warmly welcomed by some Kenya Kwanza leaders.

Deputy President Rigathi asked Kenyans to ignore the ongoing signature drive by the Opposition as it is of no consequence.

Gachagua said the mission initiated by Azimio leadership is an exercise in futility and a waste of time.

"They must know that elections are over and that elections were won. William Ruto is the President and nothing can change that fact," Gachagua said .
