Investments, Trade and Industry CS Moses Kuria now wants retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to respect President William Ruto and accept that he won the elections.

Speaking on Sunday, Kuria insisted that Kenya is bigger than the former head of state and his interests.

The CS said he will not hesitate to defend the government, just like he did when Uhuru was in-charge.

Kuria said the Mt Kenya region is a shareholder in the current government and they will not take anything less from the former President.

"Uhuru Kenyatta must respect President William Ruto and accept that he won the elections. This country is bigger than Uhuru and his personal interests.

"I'll personally defend and safeguard this Government as I did to my fellow constituency mate when he was the president. The Mt Kenya region is both a great shareholder of this Government and we won't take the nonsense anymore," he said.

Kuria's onslaught is part of Kenya Kwanza's continued attacks on the former head of state.

They continue to accuse Uhuru of being behind the protests by the Opposition coalition, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

Uhuru and Ruto shared a cordial friendship up until 2018 when the former president had a handshake with his opponent Raila Odinga.

In the 2022 general election, Uhuru openly backed and campaigned for a Raila presidency but he lost to William Ruto.

The Kenya Kwanza administration claims Uhuru is trying to destabilise the country with the protests.
