Three Bungoma chief officers have been sworn in after a court battle.
They are Everlyne Wekesa (Public Service and Management and Administration), Reuben Wambwa (Trade) and Robert Simiyu (Agriculture).
Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s new appointments came after he sent home seven officers who worked under former Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
The sacked officers rushed to court to stop their firing, arguing that they were unlawfully sent home.
The petitioners wanted the court to stop the swearing-in of the appointees. But on Thursday last week, the court allowed Lusaka to swear in the officers.
Speaking at the county headquarters on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony, Lusaka lauded the assembly for vetting the officers.
“Though it is not the birth of new dockets, it is the birth of a new leadership and as you took your oath of office, I expect nothing short of unprecedentedly open, unique and distinct service to the people of Bungoma,” Lusaka said.
He told the new officers to place emphasis on transparency and accountability, regulatory reform, leadership and achieve balance between economic and social goals.
