A multi-agency security team in Samburu has arrested a suspected bandit and recovered 75 goats.
The suspect was arrested from Latakweny Area while the recovery of the goats took place at Ndonyo Nanga Area on Tuesday.
This happened after the team, which was acting on intelligence engaged suspected bandits in a fierce shoot-out.
In a video seen by the Star and posted by the National Police Service, security officers are seen loading the goats in a police lorry with the help of locals.
NPS has commended locals for cooperating with the security team and providing information in support of the ongoing operation to eliminate banditry and restore normalcy in the area.
Among the steps recommended in the fight against banditry by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki is community involvement by providing information on the bandits, financiers and enablers.
The others include the deployment of specialised security units to track and neutralise the armed criminals, flashing bandits from their hideouts and training National Police Reservists to supplement police efforts.
He also said they will develop the bandit-stricken areas by improving infrastructure and building schools.
This is also meant to promote peace between warring communities.
