Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called for the arrest of ODM leader Raila Odinga over links to Wednesday's protests that saw several killed and properties worth millions destroyed.

Cherargei warned that if the Police will not arrest Raila, they will be forced to do so to protect their properties.

"If the Police don't arrest Tinga and his ilk we shall do Public arrest by our supporters and defend our property!" he tweeted on Wednesday.

The Senator claimed that none of the demonstrations led by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party or Raila have ever been peaceful.

"Azimio-OKA/Tinga public Maandamos is never Peaceful the evidence below includes non-respect to even sponsors of their economic sabotage," he said.

He shared photos showing a car burning, youth pelting stones, a road blocked with stones and a vandalised building.

"The government should ensure the sponsors, architects and facilitators of this mayhem, anarchy and lawlessness must be brought to book led by Tinga," he said.

His remarks echo those of Kimilili MP Dismus Barasa who asked their supporters to arrest Raila if the police fail to do so within 24 hours.

"If the police do not arrest Raila within 24 hours, we want to ask our supporters, Kenya Kwanza supporters, to arrest Raila and take him to the nearest police station," Barasa said.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has said the planners of the demos will be arrested.

"The Government has tonight mobilised all the law enforcement agencies of the State and the institutions of our country’s criminal justice system to conclude investigations urgently and proceed to the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the planning and execution of the crimes committed today, including those who funded or otherwise aided or abetted the offenders," Kindiki said.
