Protesters, activists arrested during Mombasa demos

Several protesters and rights activists have been arrested in Mombasa and taken to Central Police Station.

Some political leaders and activists are at the station, demanding their release.

The Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome had declared the demos illegal.

The police warned that no demonstrations would be allowed.

Azimio leaders in Mombasa led by Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki had notified the Central police station of their planned peaceful demonstration.

However, they were declined a permit on Tuesday.
