Lawyer PLO Lumumba now says that it is time for Azimio leader Raila Odinga to embrace dialogue.

In a statement on Wednesday, Lumumba said the former Prime Minister and his followers must be encouraged by Kenyans of goodwill to sit down with President William Ruto and talk.

The Professor said the protests led by the opposition can destroy Kenya to irreparable levels.

"Mzee Raila Odinga and his acolytes must be urged by Kenyans of goodwill to embrace dialogue. Anarchy camouflaged as civil disobedience can destroy Kenya beyond repair," he tweeted.

His reaction comes ahead of Wednesday's expected protests by the opposition outfit across the country.

Raila called for civil disobedience after he announced the second phase of protests following the collapse of bipartisan talks.

The protests began on Friday last week alongside Saba Saba.

In an interview in March, Lumumba said that the planned Azimio protests may result in treason if at all there will be an attempt to overthrow the government.

At the time, Raila had called on his supporters to invade State House, to remove Ruto, whom he termed an illegitimate president, from office.

"If that is going to happen on March 20, I dare say without mincing words that the opposition led by Raila Odinga is actually saying that they are going to overthrow the government of Kenya and that is treason," he said.

Lumumba noted that instead of calling for mass protests the opposition chief should use the existing institutions to hold the current regime accountable.
