Showdown looms in Homa Bay county, Nyanza as President William Ruto and Raila Odinga head to the region on Saturday for various activities.

Ruto is expected to tour the expansive Karachuonyo subcounty to attend thanksgiving ceremony of Internal security and national administration Raymond Omollo at Oriwo Boys High School.

Besides the ceremony, it remains unclear whether he will also tour various government-funded projects in the county.

Several senior Kenya Kwanza government officials including Cabinet secretaries, Principal secretaries and MPs are expected to attend the ceremony at Kanyipir village.

The head of state has visited the Homa Bay county twice after he took over power with his allies in the region saying he was keen to bag support of the South Nyanza.

During his visits, he launched projects and pledged to complete the stalled projects in the region. Amongst the projects launched include the affordable housing in Homa Bay town.

Information and Communication Technology CS Eliud Owalo, Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, Odoyo Owidi and leaders allied to Ruto have welcomed him in the region.

Raila on the other side will also lead his Azimio troops and stage public rallies in the expansive Homa Bay county.

Raila, in what appears as plans to neutralise the event and Ruto's attempt to make roads in Nyanza, has organised public rallies with various stopovers from Kisumu to Suba through Homa Bay town.

Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo said the Azimio brigade will on Saturday morning convene a meeting in Kisumu West constituency chaired by Raila before embarking on rallies.

He outlined that after the meeting they will move through Katito to Kendu Bay then Adiedo to Kadel to Homa Bay and finally to the two Suba constituencies.

"We shall hold public rallies and enlighten our people on our next course of action," Ong'ondo posted on his Facebook account.

Kisumu Central ODM chairman Seth Ochieng alias Adui has faulted some leaders elected on the party ticket for betrayal. He said those who have betrayed Raila will never be elected in any position in the Luo region.

Ochieng noted that they will have public rallies to listen to the plights Kenyans are facing and push on the government to address them swiftly.

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Defense cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa, former Agriculture CS Peter Munya and Roots party leader Prof George Wajackoyah are among the leaders expected to attend the rallies.

Several governors, MPs and senators from Nyanza and those from other regions allied to Azimio will attend the rallies.
