State to construct six classes at Kihumbuini Primary School

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has said the government will construct six more classes at Kihumbuini Primary School.

Speaking on Friday while addressing students, Machogu said the government has allocated Sh1 billion to build 5000 classes starting with Kihumbuini Primary School.

"I understand you require six more classrooms and we are going to make sure we provide enough funds to build the six classrooms that are required in this school," Machogu said.

He said the classes will be built to reduce congestion in the institution.

"The classrooms will reduce the number from 85 students per classroom to around 50. So, I give you the assurance because that is what is going to be done through the infrastructural fund in the Financial Year 2023/2024," Machogu said.

According to Kihumbuini Primary Headteacher Eunice Anyango, the school has 31 classrooms with 2,333 Primary students and 210 ECDE learners.

She said the school needs an additional six classrooms to combat congestion and ease studies.

Anyango added that the school has more learners but few teachers."We have a shortage of teachers."

"There are 31 primary teachers and 6 ECDE teachers. We will need an additional six more teachers," Anyango said.

The CS said the government will make sure the school has additional and enough teachers.

Kihumbuini Primary School was started in the year 1982.

The headteacher said she has served in the school for four years.
