Azimio la Umoja Coalition has expressed its disappointment with Kenya's democracy.

Kitui senator Enoch Wambua on Monday stated that the Kenya Kwanza regime was depriving the country of its democracy.

"We are the lowest that any democracy can sink," he said.

He was addressing a media briefing by the Azimio la Umoja coalition at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation during which the push for three-day protests was reiterated.

The MP further said that the three-day protests will be between the President and Kenyans

"The conflict that we shall experience on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be a conflict between one William Ruto and the people of Kenya," Wambua added.

The Senator further explained that Azimio doesn't understand why Kenya Kwanza is obsessed with seeing and doing what Kenyans have not asked for.

"As far as we know, Kenyans have never asked for funds to be launched. Kenyans have specifically asked for the cost of goods to come down and taxes to be reduced. But Kenya Kwanza is talking about the deficit and funds," Wambua added.

Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja coalition said the anti-government demonstrations will go on for three days this week.

In a statement, Azimio la Umoja said due to requests from all sectors, the peaceful protests will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

"We will have countrywide protests next week on Wednesday whether the government likes it or not," he said.

He vowed not to bow out of protests until President  Ruto addresses the real issues.

The  Opposition chief said that it was not over until the real issues affecting Kenyans are addressed.

Raila said the protests will continue until Ruto looks into the contested Finance Act, of 2023.

"There is no moving on until Ruto comes out and openly repeals the Finance Act, 2023 and issues other measures to lower cost of living," he said.

However, President William Ruto said he will use all means to stop the protests.

"Raila Odinga, I won't allow you to seek power on the back of the blood of Kenyans. I will stop you," he said.

The President said the protests have led to the loss of lives and properties.

"We will not allow the handshake brothers to hold our country ransom and to take it, hostage, by causing violence, mayhem and anarchy. Tutawakalia ngumu vile mumesema, they will not succeed," he said.
