Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has said the planned Azimio protests will not be held in the county.
The county boss said there's no way anti-government protests will be allowed in President William Ruto's backyard.
"About protests, you all know there won't be any in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu the President's home," he said.
The opposition Azimio has declared three days of protests to run back-to-back from Wednesday to Friday.
Raila Odinga and his allies say they want to mount pressure on the government to lower the cost of living and remove punitive taxes introduced via the impugned Finance Act, 2023.
"Protesting with a sufuria on your head, where will you be going?" Bii posed. He spoke on Sunday during a church service.
The governor said the county and the country at large needs peace which previous protests demonstrated was not possible even after Azimio leaders assured theirs would be peaceful protests.
"Have they ever been peaceful? Recently, they vandalised the expressway. If they can do that to an elevated road, will they spare anything anywhere?" he posed.
Besides the destruction of property, Bii said lives were lost and interclan fighting erupted in Sondu.
"Who is this you are all demonstrating for? Does he know you? Does he know what you ate last night? Does he know how much you've borrowed on Fuliza?
"So let's come together as brothers and sisters and detach our minds from the protests," Bii said.
