The leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kenya has appealed to its faithful to pray for the country.
In a statement on Thursday, leaders from two Unions urged their members to dedicate their time to prayer like never before.
They said the prayer intentions should be directed at the current political and economic state of the country.
East Kenyan Union Conference President Samuel Makori and his West Kenyan Union Conference counterpart Samuel Misiani said the current political and economic state in Kenya is worrying and picking dangerous proportions.
"We are on this biblical promise, extending a passionate appeal to all Adventist worshippers and believers to dedicate 15-20 minutes of intentional prayers and petitions for Kenya's current political and economic situation," the statement reads.
The leaders added that the prayers should start on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
They advised that the prayers should be conducted during Sabbath worship hours, Wednesday mid-week prayers, Friday vespers and during individual family altars.
"We believe that prayer changes things in situations such as these in our country. We also urge all Kenyans of goodwill to conduct themselves with restraint and respect for one another in the fear of God and the love for our nation," the statement reads.
They said by lifting the country through prayer the Seventh-day Adventist Church is responding to its God-given responsibility to stand in the gap for the country.
"This is our appeal as leaders of the two unions (EKUC and WKUC) to our church members. May the good Lord be with you all in Jesus' Name."
