Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has dared the Opposition to hold anti-government demonstrations, saying they will be dealt with ruthlessly.

He said protesters have been engaging in crime in the name of peaceful demonstrations and assured Kenyans that there is no room for such protests.

"I hear they have again threatened that they would want to go out on a looting spree on Wednesday. We are ready for them. We will deploy from 1 am," he said.

"We will make sure that no hooligan, no criminal, no looter gets his way."

Kindiki spoke on Monday during a tour in Baringo South where he had gone to review the progress of the ongoing operation against bandits and armed criminals.

The CS said the ministry gave protesters a chance to hold peaceful demos but ended up being disappointed.

"Two Wednesdays ago we tried to test whether there could be peaceful demos... But by the time we realised, a lot of damage, bloodshed and destruction had been committed," he said.

This, Kindiki said, was the reason for heavy police presence on Wednesday, July 19.

He urged politicians to sort out their issues peacefully and in a civilian manner, noting that crime in the country would not be permitted.

He warned that the security agencies will be firmer on any perpetrators as compared to last week.

"Na hapo hatulegezi kamba... This time round will be even more vicious. Wasijaribu," Kindiki said.

He assured that the Ministry of Interior remained objective on its legal mandate.

Kindiki warned politicians that he was not going to be intimidated by their status.

"We are not doing politics...We are security managers. Our work is to make sure our country is safe. Na mtu asijifiche kwa siasa akidhani eti tutamuogopa. Tutakabiliana na wewe hata ukiwa nani, " he said.

"So those who want to break the law on Wednesday, I dare them to try. We are more than ready."
