Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has announced that 0n Friday, it will hold interdenominational prayers in remembrance of the victims of protests and give directions on the way forward on the demos.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the prayers will be held in Nairobi but urged Kenyans to replicate the same in other parts of the country.
"As part of our love and honour for the slain and injured heroes of this struggle, we will hold interdenominational prayers on Friday," he said.
He said the service will be characterised by prayers for the souls of the deceased, prayers for the recovery of the injured and prayers for the country.
"We pray for the government to listen to the cries of our people about the high taxes and the rising cost of living. We will pray for our police to know the people they brutalise, maim and kill are indeed their brothers, sisters and fellow citizens," he said.
The former Vice President said they will continue urging the international community to intervene in the country's situation and stand with Kenyans.
"We call on the international community to call Kenyan security agencies to order. Indeed some of them have called them out," he said while noting that the Human Rights Commission in Geneva was among them.
Kalonzo noted that injustice in one part of the world impacted the whole world.
"Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. The international community must never lose sight of this fact," he said.
The Opposition will also give directions on the way forward in regard to the anti-government protests.
Kalonzo reaffirmed that they will not relent in their fight against the issues facing Kenyans until they are addressed.
"Let's make no mistake. Kenyans are still hurting and we shall not relent until this regime acknowledges this grim reality of suffering and agrees to repeal the infamous Finance Act," he said.
"We call on Kenyans not to surrender. We shall not and we will not give up... Justice shall be done."
The Opposition leaders had convened at the Foundation to hold a vigil for those who were killed during the past anti-government demonstrations.
The vigil will continue on Thursday and through the weekend.
"Please don't tire of doing good. The vigils, the prayers and the laying of flowers continue tomorrow and throughout the weekend. We appeal to all our houses of worship to dedicate prayers to these heroes and innocent souls and for our country," the Coalition said.
