President Samia Suluhu has affirmed that Kenya and Tanzania are in good terms and share Socio-economic ideologies.

On Wednesday, Suluhu said that both countries shared a lot in terms of economy, security and defence for their citizens.

"Tanzania na Kenya ni washirika kindugu na kibiashara, wakishirikiana mpaka wa urefu wa zaidi ya kilometa 750 wenye umuhimu mkubwa katika ulinzi, usalama na uchumi kwa wananchi wa pande zote mbili,"  she said in a statement.

This translates to: Tanzania and Kenya are fraternal and commercial partners, sharing a border of more than 750 kilometres with great importance in defence, security and economy for the citizens of both sides.

President Suluhu had met her Kenyan counterpart William Ruto on the sidelines of the Summit of African Heads of State on Human Resources, in Dar es Salaam.

This is amid claims that Ruto snubbed Suluhu while she was in Kenya for two days, two weeks ago.

On Tuesday, Opposition chief Raila Odinga claimed that President Suluhu was in Kenya two weeks ago to mediate talks between him and Ruto.

However, Raila claimed that Suluhu was left hanging for the two days she was in the country and no talks took place.

“Samia Suliuhu came here two weeks ago at the invitation of President Ruto to mediate, but she was kept waiting.  We were available but the other side was not available.

She spent two nights here and it was all in vain. Other people have tried but he’s the one who’s resisting. I am ready to sit with other people to discuss these issues,” Raila said during an interview with the International Press Association of East Africa.

However, President Ruto has responded to the allegations.
