Mudavadi, Wetang'ula, Atwoli meet over Luhya unity drive

He said Luhya leaders must not allow division in the Western region over political affiliations.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Cotu boss Francis Atwoli met on Tuesday to discuss the unity of the Luhya community.

The three leaders, according to Wetang'ula deliberated on key strategies for uniting the Mulembe nation after the August 2022 elections.

He said Luhya leaders must not allow division in the Western region over political affiliations.

He said such divisions will not be good for the development of the region.

"As leaders of our community in support of President William Ruto, we must not accept any political division because it will be detrimental to development of the Western region," Wetang'ula said.

The National Assembly speaker further noted that they agreed to give President Ruto's administration all the support needed to deliver on their promise to Kenyans.

"We agreed to give the government of the day; the Kenya Kwanza Government all the necessary support as it delivers on its agenda. We are also pushing for the revival of all the stalled projects in our region. Our Unity, Our Strength!"

Mudavadi and Wetang'ula backed Ruto's presidential bid while Atwoli backed Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

Atwoli switched camps after Odinga lost and is currently working with Ruto.

"I met with the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula to compare notes on National and Western Region politics and the Social and Economic performance of Kenya in general.

"The meeting was held in the office of Speaker of the National Assembly," Atwoli said.
