President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party will be Kenya's largest political party by registration in 2027, UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala has said.

Malala said the party is gradually registering members including a bid number registered with opposition parties.

The recruitment drive, Malala said, targets aims at making the political outfit the largest in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The UDA secretary general made the remarks on Friday at Amukura in Busia county when he launched the distribution of government subsidised fertilizer.

“We will not force you to join UDA but eventually many of you will find yourselves in the President’s party,” Malala said.

Drawing the analogy of a chicken that is to be caught, the UDA SG said: “You know when you want to catch a chicken, you don’t chase it around because it will embarrass you. So, you have to be clever. You give it maize while moving into the house and the moment it gets into the house, you close the door.”

“We are going to work closely with you and make sure you get services from the government until you find yourselves in UDA.”

The President’s mission, he said is to transform the country and make Kenya an admirable nation not only in East Africa but also in Africa and the world.

“We want you to support the President in his work,” Malala, who was once a strong ODM supporter said.

“We do not want to force anybody to join UDA. But we want you to see the what the President is doing so that you join UDA yourself.”

Malala said he has been busy recruiting members to join the part.

Among places he has toured launching the party’s recruitment drives include opposition strongholds in Kisumu, Machakos, and Kisii.

In a similar exercise in Narok on June 11, he said the party targets at recruiting 15 million members across the country.
