Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has weighed in on the joint statement by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition and the Kenya Kwanza faction on creation of committees for bi-partisan talks.
He termed the move as a joke.
Alai on Saturday said there was no seriousness in the gesture as the document failed to mention the very reason why Kenyans were demonstrating which he said is the high cost of living.
"Our people shouldn’t have died for these jokes. We must be serious. There is no seriousness here," Alai said.
The MCA said if the high cost of living is not part of the bi-partisan talks, then he will move to join efforts with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to form a similar initiative, but only more serious.
"If the cost of living isn’t part of the negotiations, me and Babu Owino will demand that we have a parallel initiative which is away from this kalongolongo," Alai said.
Owino in a rejoinder, said he supported Alai's sentiments.
"I support you 100 per cent Robert Alai," Owino said.
The joint statement Alai and Owino were discussing however was only signed by the Kenya Kwanza faction while the Azimio Coalition's side remained unsigned.
The joint statement said the two factions are determined to resolve their differences "amicably for the benefit of all our people."
Under the new agreement, the two sides will form a committee of ten composed of five members each from Azimio La Umoja and Kenya Kwanza.
The committee will include four members from outside Parliament, two from each side, leaders of Majority and Minority from the National Assembly and four additional Members of Parliament -two from each side.
Among the issues the committee will discuss as per the joint statement are reconstitution of the IEBC, implementation of the two-thirds gender rule and entrenchment of CDF.
The new development now puts on hold Azimio's plans to issue new directives regarding their anti-government street protests.
The coalition said on Friday during an interdenominational requiem mass for protests victims that it would give the way forward on the demos this Sunday.
If cost of living isn’t part of the negotiations, me and @HEBabuOwino will demand that we have a parallel initiative which is away from this kalongolongo.
