A man who allegedly collected Sh120,000 fraudulently by pretending to be in a position to prepare the burial of former Narok Governor Samuel Kuntai Ole Tunai's son has been charged before a Nairobi court. 

Enock Kipngetich Lagat was charged that on diverse dates between April 21, 2023, and April 30, 2023, at an unknown place within the country, jointly with others not before the court obtained Sh 120,000 from Joseph Kibere Njoroge.

The Court heard that he pretended that the money was meant to assist a victim of accident and funeral arrangements of Hon Samuel Kuntai, Tunai's son a fact he knew to be false.

He is said to have called several people asking for donations for the burial arrangements. 

Lagat appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and denied the charges. 

He pleaded for lenient bond terms stating that he is from a humble background. 

The accused was released on a Sh 30,000 cash bail or a bond of Sh 100,000.

Witness statements are to be supplied to him.

The case will be mentioned on August 7.
