Former MCA charged with threatening to kill successor

A former Makueni  Member of the County Assembly was on Thursday charged before a Nairobi court with threatening to kill the incumbent  MCA.

Dennis Wambua  Masavu was accused that without lawful excuse uttering words threatening to kill the sitting MCA Denis Kioko.

The prosecution said he uttered words to wit"... My votes were stolen and I went to Tawa Court but later realized that there is no court in Tawa only money changes hands. Money was poured and my case was thrown out of Court. I cannot surrender it either the current MCA dies or I die. Because my votes cannot be stolen and then ordered to pay somebody one Million. It's not possible".

Wambua allegedly committed the offence on March 11, 2023, at Ngoni village in Mbooni East. 

The accused is said to have threatened Kioko after being aggrieved by the outcome of last year's general elections and his efforts to appeal the outcome were futile.

Wambua,  however,  denied the charges before Milimani chief magistrate Susan Shitubi and although his lawyer requested lenient bond terms. 

He was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh500,000.

The trial magistrate further warned the politician from uttering threatening statements to the complainant or interfering with witnesses.

The case will be mentioned on August 10.
