Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen has called on the Bipartisan committee to embark on talks with no wasting time.
Speaking on Sunday at Nyang'iela Catholic Parish in Kochia, Murkomen said that the heads of the committees should be communicating without using a third medium.
“ I don't know why mheshimiwa Ichungw’ah and Kalonzo are writing letters to each other. Why can't they just call each other and talk?” Murkomen posed.
The CS said that it won't be the first time people are meeting to talk.
"They should agree and talk…And everyone should open their hearts. They should meet each other halfway agree and disagree and Kenya will move forward," Murkomen added.
The former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator noted that leadership and governance are a continuous conversation and that is what builds a nation.
"The only way we try to make Kenya as one is by having continuous conversations on the issues that come up. At times maybe we might be saying the same thing but there are misunderstandings and miscommunications," he added.
Kenya Kwanza coalition unveiled its five members who will represent it in the proposed fresh talks with the Opposition side.
The delegation will be led by National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah, Aaron Cheruiyot (Senate Majority Leader), Embu Governor Cecile Mbaririe, Hassan Omar ( EALA MP) and Bungoma Woman rep Catherine Wambilinga.
The team will join the Azimio delegation led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka with Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Eugene Wamalwa, Okong'o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi.
Kenya Kwanza emphasised that the team will engage with the Azimio counterparts on five issues.
They include reconstitution of IEBC; implementation of two-thirds gender rule, entrenchment of constituency development fund, establishment and entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary
On the other side, the Opposition invited Kenya Kwanza for an initial joint meeting on Monday next week as a preamble to the impending fresh talks.
In a statement on Thursday, Azimio leader of delegation Kalonzo Musyoka said they have convened the meeting in light of the anxiety of the people and in the interest of a speedy resolution to the issues lined up for discussion.
"We have taken this step because we believe time is of the essence. While a lot of hard work will be needed to resolve the issues at hand, we believe a speedy start and a time-bound programme is necessary to put the nation at ease."
Kalonzo said the joint meeting will be held at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, on Monday, August 7, from 11am.
But Kenya Kwanza team proposed to their Azimio counterparts for a change of date for their first joint meeting ahead of the start of the fresh talks.
Ichung'wah has proposed that the meeting be pushed to Thursday as the Kenya Kwanza team will be engaged on Monday and Tuesday.
