EALA MP Kanini Kega has pledged to continue supporting President William Ruto.
Speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational service at Sagana Lodge in Nyeri, Kega said even though he did not support Ruto during the election period, he does so now.
"But now your excellency you know I am your friend, I support you and you can count on my support," he said.
He challenged those who voted or Ruto to continue supporting him, saying he is doing it even though he was not among his earlier supporters.
"Nitashikilia your excellency, tutakusaidia," he added.
His remarks come shortly after Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi mocked him for supporting the opposition.
"Your Excellency yule jamaa nataka kukuitia hapa ni ule alikuwa anatufungia gate pale, yeye ndiye alikuwa anasema tusiingie," he said.
He was referring to the Sagana State Lodge.
In a rejoinder, Kega admitted to the statement noting that he did not vote for Ruto.
"Vile mheshimiwa amesema kuna kaukweli fulani kidogo. Tulikuwa tunasukuma mzee Mt Kenya," he said.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta officially endorsed Azimio leader Raila Odinga at Sagana State Lodge on February 23, 2022.
Kega is the leader of the Jubilee faction that has pledged its allegiance to the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The party is a rival to its other half which is still part of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
