Rudisha appointed Budapest 23 ambassador

Former World 800m champion David Rudisha is among three athletes chosen by World Athletics as ambassadors to the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary set for August 19-27.

Britain's Daley Thompson and Blanka Vlasic from Croatia complete the three-member list.

The latter is a former High jump world champion while Thompson is a former decathlon world champion.

Rudisha expressed his joy for having been selected as an ambassador saying: “I am deeply honoured to be appointed as an ambassador for the World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023 by World Athletics.

“Congratulations to all the athletes who have made it to the World championships this year. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a successful competition and I ask all the fans and athletes to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship during this event,” he said.

Over 2000 competitors from around the world are expected to participate in the Championships in various track and field events for the nine-day spectacle.
