Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is among guests listed as key note speakers at the devolution conference to be held in Eldoret between August 15th to 19th.
Blair who is now executive Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change will speak on the first day of the conference whose main venue will be at the Eldoret Sports Club.
The Council of Governors (CoG0 has released its final programme for the conference whose main theme will revolve around 10 years of devolution, the present and the future.
Blair will speak at the first session of the conference where the sub theme will be Driving Transformation from local level with the county government as the center of economic development
President William Ruto is expected to officially launch the conference.
Before Ruto’s address there will be remarks by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Chief Justice Martha Koome, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Speaker of Senate Amason Kingi and then remarks by CoG Chair Ann Waiguru.
Host governor Jonathan Bii will have a heavy schedule to welcome guests to Eldoret who will include all the 47 governors and their deputies, all senators and other senior government officials.
The conference is expected to bring to Eldoret more than 15,000 guests.
“We are happy that we will be hosting our high level guests. We wish to assure them that we are much prepared as we gear for the city status soon”, said Bii.
On Thursday August 18th which will be second day, the key note address will be given by Henriette Geiger who is ambassador of European Union to Kenya.
On same day at midday, Guest Speaker at the event will be former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
On the last day of the event the guest speaker will be Anthony Ngororano who is resident representative UNDP Kenya after which DP Rigathi Gachagua will close down the event.
Deputy governor for Uasin Gishu John Barorot is chairing the local committee that is preparing for the event that has caused the Uasin county government to give a major face lift to Eldoret town.
The town has undergone major improvement of roads and street lights among other measures to ensure the conference will be successful.
