President William Ruto has signed a mutual agreement that will allow Kenyan citizens to drive in Mozambique using a Kenyan driving license.
In addition, Mozambique citizens will also be able to drive around in Kenya using the country's driving license.
Ruto was speaking on Saturday during his visit to Mozambique.
"We have concluded and signed mutual recognition of driving licenses of our two countries. From now on, having a Kenyan driving license is as good as having a Mozambican driving license," Ruto said.
"It is the responsibility of the ambassador to make sure that it becomes a reality because we have negotiated and we have agreed."
He added that they also agreed to remove trade barriers to actualise the African free trade, which was pursued by the African Union (AU).
"There is no longer just a Mozambican or Kenyan market because countries are now integrated with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa),” he said.
Mozambique President Jacinto Nyusi said they are improving their infrastructure to attract more investors into the country.
He urged Kenyan investors to visit the country and exploit opportunities in horticulture, agro-processing among others.
During the visit, Ruto and Nyusi will focus on key sectors, including the Blue Economy and Fisheries, Trade, Defence, Agriculture, Energy, Transport and capacity building.
