Former Gor Mahia midfielder Raphael Asudi is dead.

The 27-year-old Asudi is said to have collapsed and died at Thika Stadium on Sunday during a friendly match between Donholm Seniors and Thika Vitambi FC.

Attempts by teammates and the technical team to administer medical assistance to save his life failed.

Asudi, according to a family source, had undergone surgery linked to a heart condition. He is said to have been told to quit football.

Reports indicate that the player was due to travel to Hungary for studies at the end of the month after landing a scholarship.

Asudi also played for other Major Kenya Premier League clubs such Sofapaka, Nairobi Stima, Posta Rangers and Bidco United
