Two lawmakers and a PS traded barbs on Monday over development issues in Bungoma.

MPs John Makali (Kanduyi), Jack Wamboka (Bumula) and PS state department of Broadcasting and Telecommunication Edward Kisiang’ani clashed over implementation of projects in the county.

Speaking at Kibabii University on Monday during the launch of the County CIDP by Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Wamboka in his address said the Kenya Kwanza government has not kept the promises made during campaigns on the revival of the ailing Nzoia sugar company and the upgrading of road networks in the region.

However, Kisiang’ani told off Wamboka saying he is always absent whenever lawmakers from Western and Lusaka held consultative meetings with President William Ruto over the region’s projects.

“The recent meeting we had with the President was in Eldoret where we discussed issues touching on the revival of Nzoia sugar among other projects in this region. Unless you are part of these candid meetings, you will never know what was discussed,” the PS told the two MPs.

Kisiang’ani asked  Wamboka to join Kenya Kwanza and work together so that he would know what is going on, adding that the Bumula MP is lonely in the opposition.

Wamboka however, said he won’t cross over to clap for Ruto’s administration.

“I will remain in the opposition to keep the government in check to ensure that they work for Kenyans, if I cross over, who will offer a strong oversight?’’

The MP has always snubbed all the meetings that the Western MPs have held with the President and his deputy.

The PS added that, “The President is very passionate about Nzoia sugar and that its revival is on course.”

Kisiang’ani further accused the Western MPs of not reaching out to him as agreed during the meetings held in Nairobi and Eldoret, something that annoyed MP Makali.

In response, Makali pointed an accusing finger at Kisiang’ani for not picking calls whenever reached to address issues pertaining the Western region.

“We should be serious with whatever we are doing, you can’t avoid picking calls then start telling us that the region’s development will lag behind if we aren’t united,” Makali said.

He told off  the PS saying he is the one causing confusion and refusing to work with MPs from the region.

In his address during the event Governor Lusaka stayed away from the wrangling.

Others present at the event were  deputy governor Jennipher Mbatiany, Senator Wafula Wakoli, Assembly speaker Emmanuel Situma, Devolution PS Terry Mbaika, MCAs, County CECs among others.
