Azimio coalition has come out strongly to condemn international nations in meddling with Kenya's political affairs.

Senators led by Oginga Oburu of Siaya accused the US of interfering with Kenya's politics.

Oburu claimed he found it insensitive for US Ambassador Meg Whitman to talk about democracy during the Devolution conference on Wednesday in Eldoret.

"I'm hurt when the US ambassador is dancing and praising democracy in Kenya when such rights(right to demonstrate) are being criminalised and described as destruction of property," he said while addressing the media.

The ODM Senator added that there can't be democracy in Kenya when the Kenya Kwanza government in his view has criminalised legitimate rights of the Kenyan people to demonstrate.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua added: "Your (Ambassador Whitman) comments on the 2022 election are insensitive and are eroding the little trust we are building."

Wambua also demanded an apology from the US envoy as he believed that her utterances were far-fetched from the reality in the country.

The statement comes a day after Whitman reaffirmed her position that the 2022 general election was free and most credible the country has ever had.

Speaking during the Devolution conference in Eldoret, Whitman said: “I arrived in Kenya days before the general election, what I witnessed was short of a remarkable.”

“The election was observed by local and international election organisations and the results were upheld by the Kenyan Supreme court and power was transferred orderly and peacefully at the time,” she added.

In April this year, the envoy while addressing American businessmen said Kenya held the the most transparent and democratic election.
