President William Ruto has defended US Ambassador Meg Whitman after Azimio leader Raila Odinga said she should keep off Kenyan affairs.

Raila on Thursday went ahead and referred to Whitman as a rogue ambassador.

Ruto however on Friday while speaking in Kasarani said the opposition should have some decorum and respect for themselves as they demand the same from others.

He said it was the people to decide who was rogue the opposition or the ambassador.

"I was imagining between the people who are orchestrating the destruction of property and sabotaging our economy and those working with us to create investment opportunities and capital for the people of Kenya, who is actually rogue," Ruto said.

He further said that the American Ambassador stated factual statements.

"She said the last election was free and fair in the history of Kenya which is true. She also stated that Kenya is open for business, true," he said.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Thursday fired back at US Ambassador Meg Whitman over her remarks on the August 2022 elections.

Raila said Whitman should keep off Kenyan affairs.

He said Kenya is not a US colony and should be left to handle its internal affairs.

"Tell the rogue ambassador Kenya is not the United States. Kenya is not a colony of the United States. Keep your mouth while you are here. Otherwise, we will call for your recall back to your country," Raila said amid cheers from a section of the participants.
