Hundreds of Members of County Assemblies caused chaos at the Nakuru Agricultural Showground when they shouted down one of their leaders.

The Ward Representative from all 47 counties were angered by the remarks of County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) chairperson, Peter Imwatok opposing the push for better perks.

Imwatok who is also the Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader was embarrassed in Infront of Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba as the MCAs attempted to break the security barriers to grab him.

Trouble started when Imwatok took to the podium and said the CASA event was not a place to politic and air the salary disagreement.

Reacting to a statement by Naivasha MCA, Stanley Karanja, Imwatok said the MCAs should focus on what took them to Nakuru which is sport and stop politicking.

Karanja, the Secretary General of Association of Members of County Assemblies, said that MCAs were not in agreement with the recent notice on their salaries by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

"We must set the records straight on the issue of our salaries, please take our message to President William Ruto," he told Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

But Imwatok played down the matter when he took over the mic a move that angered his colleagues.

The MCAs immediately started shouting slogans and wanted to eject Imwatok from the main dias.

Only a small section of MCA from Nairobi came to the rescue of their majority leader in an incident that almost turned into a full-blown fight.

It took police and Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Joel Karuri's intervention to calm the angry MCAs.

The situation was contained in good times and sports continued.
