Most parts of the country will remain dry this week days, the latest weather forecast shows.
The seven-day forecast by the Kenya Metrological Department released on Tuesday however shows a few areas will receive rainfall during the forecast period.
They include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast.
According to the forecast, several parts of the country including the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya will experience temperatures as high as 30oC during the day and strong winds.
Counties in the highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley are predicted to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights.
They include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot.
“However, occasional afternoon, as well as night showers and thunderstorms, are expected over few places,” the forecast shows.
Temperatures are expected to rise to as high as 32o C in Kisumu during the day and drop to 16oC at night and to as low as 06oC in Narok.
North-western Kenya counties of Turkana and Samburu are predicted to have sunny days and partly cloudy nights.
Temperatures in Lodwar will rise to a maximum of up to 37oC during the day with warmer nights at 27oC while Maralal will record a low temperature of 10oC.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi are predicted to record sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights.
“However, occasional afternoon and night showers are expected over few places,” the weatherman says.
Maximum (day-time) temperatures will rise to about 30o C in Thika during the day and drop to as low as 05oC in Nyahururu during the night.
North-eastern Kenya counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo on the other hand will record sunny days and nights partly cloudy nights.
Temperatures will be as high as 39oC in Mandera during the day and drop to as low as 15oC in Marsabit during the night.
Counties in the southeastern lowlands which include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta will experience sunny days and partly cloudy nights.
Maximum temperatures in Voi during the day maximum will rise to 32oC and drop to 18oC at night while Machakos will experience moderate maximum day-time temperatures of up to 26oC with minimum night-time temperatures dropping to about 09oC.
The Coast counties of Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale on the other hand are predicted to have sunny days and partly cloudy nights.
“However, occasional morning and early afternoon showers are expected over few places,” the forecast says.
Temperatures in Lamu will rise to 31oC during the day and drop to 23oC at night while Mombasa will record maximum temperatures of up to 31oC during the day and 20oC at night.
