Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has turned 53 saying he is at a very good place in life.

Through a statement on Tuesday, the CS thanked God for life and his family and friends beginning with his parents for their good upbringing.

"I thank the Almighty God on this, my birthday. Special thanks to my wonderful and beautiful mother for being in labour and giving birth to me 53 years ago today - August 22nd - and nursing and nurturing me," he said in the opening statement.

"I thank my Dad for his jokes and happy spirit and for bringing me up in an upright manner. Thanks to my siblings and relatives for all we have shared and will continue to share," he added.

The CS also thanked his children whose love he termed as unequivocal and expressed gratitude as the number of his attributes are reflected in them.

Mutua also sent birthday wishes to Tanzanian music star Rayvanny whose birthday he said falls on the same day and to all those they share the special day with.

"I say to you all, with a huge smile, Happy birthday to you too."

The former Machakos governor also extended gratitude to those he no longer shares friendships with saying they are part of the reason he turned out to be who he is today - better.

"Ahsante. My friends (and I am lucky to have genuine friends), the adventure continues. I am at a very good place in life - happy, peaceful, content, and grateful. God truly loves me. Mbele iko Sawa!"

Prior to his appointment as a CS, Mutua previously served as the Official Government Spokesman between 2002 and 2012.

He was elected the first Machakos Governor on a Wiper Democratic Movement Party ticket in March 2013 and retained the seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap party in the August 8, 2017 polls.
