Woman found murdered after suspected rape in Kericho

Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a 27-year-old woman was found hanging on their house roof after a suspected rape in a village in Ainamoi, Kericho County.

The body was found in the house of her step-sister which is adjacent to hers, police said.

Police said they are investigating murder and rape in the August 20 incident.

A team that visited the scene said the deceased’s body had rope marks on the neck and her clothes had some dirty soil.

The body was moved to Kericho County referral hospital, where a test was done to establish the rape allegations.

The samples were taken for further analysis and the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

Police statistics show rape cases are on the rise in villages amid campaigns to address the menace.

Elsewhere at Nyabara Ibera market within Nyabisimba sub-location, Nyamira, the body of one namely Steve Mokua Mongare, 30, was found lying on the road next to his rented house.

Police said the body had fresh wounds on his head. A woman who had been cohabiting with the deceased was arrested for questioning, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

And in Mukinye village, Gatundu, Kiambu County, a 49-year-old woman who was epileptic was found dead on her bed.

Police say they were informed one Fidels Njahira Ndotono was found lying dead on her bed facing downwards.

It was said that the deceased had been suffering from epilepsy.

The body had no visible injuries at the time police arrived at the scene to pick up the body in order to take it to the mortuary pending autopsy.
