Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday met with Narc party leader Charity Ngilu in his office.

The Prime CS said the former Kitui governor had paid him a courtesy call.

"Great meeting with my long-time friend Mama Ngilu who paid me a courtesy call in my office this afternoon," he said.

The two leaders have previously worked together in 2017 when they were co-principals in the defunct National Super Alliance (Nasa) on whose ticket the opposition sought but lost the presidency to Jubilee.

Ngilu is well known for predicting the direction of Kenya's politics when it matters the most and often ends up striking last-minute political deals.

A case in point was in the runup to the 2013 general election where she momentarily appeared at KICC during the manifesto launch of the former Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (Cord).

Cord's Raila Odinga was gearing up for a battle at the ballot with Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta at the March 8, 2013 polls and both sides needed influential team players.

Despite having lost the Kitui county senatorial seat at the polls, Ngilu was appointed the Cabinet Secretary for Land, Housing and Urban Development by Uhuru in honour of a last-minute decision to dump Cord and work with Jubilee.

She would in 2017 successfully vied for the Kitui governor seat but did not defend the seat at the 2022 polls following a promise by Raila that he would appoint her in Cabinet but Azimio lost the election of President William Ruto.

Ngilu has since then kept a low profile and the meet-up with Mudavadi is one of the rare times she has been seen brushing shoulders with the whos and whos in government.
