Former Kenya Film Classification Board boss Ezekiel Mutua has told Youth and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba to remain focused while executing his duties.

In a statement on Thursday, Mutua said the CS had what it takes and those who know the workings of government wish him well and will support the CS

"Stay the course, Sir. Focus on doing what's right and use the criticism to streamline the operations of the Ministry," he said.

On Wednesday, the CS appeared before the National Assembly to answer queries raised by the MPs.

According to Mutua, the entire grilling was tailored for crucifixion.

He said matters Sports are complex because of the autonomous nature of federations and the protection from international bodies to which they are affiliated and the sheer size of the Ministry and budgetary constraints.

Mutua commended Namwamba on his responsiveness towards the questions being raised by legislators.

"The calmness of CS Ababu Namwamba, the articulate and professional way of responding to the questions is the stuff great leaders are made of. It has won even the hearts of his critics," he said.

The former KFCB boss said that Sports, Arts and Media are one of the most difficult dockets to manage.

Mutua said dockets comprise people who know people, celebrities who have the ego of an elephant and generally people who are immensely gifted but do not quite understand the laws governing their talents.

"I have been involved with the last two CSs of Sports and Arts and Ministry of ICT and I can tell you it's not easy dealing with these dockets," he said.

To succeed, Mutua highlighted that one must have a thick skin, be ahead of the schemes of the key players and cartels and be like Ceasar's wife - beyond reproach.

"Ultimately, results reverse the insults and wicked schemes. That's how we moved this country from Analogue to Digital. That's how I thwarted moves by cartels in beer, betting and LGBTQ when I served as CEO of KFCB," he added.
