Murkomen transfers JKIA Manager after power blackout

The changes announced by Murkomen take place with immediate effect.

He has been replaced by Kisumu International Airport manager Selina Gor will now oversee day-to-day operations at JKIA.

Peter Wafula who was in Mombasa has been shifted to Kisumu International in the same capacity. 

The changes announced by Murkomen take place with immediate effect.

The CS who was speaking at JKIA said more changes are expected in the coming days.

Murkomen visited the airport after it was affected for two hours on Friday night as the country experienced power outage.

Passengers at JKIA were stranded in darkness for at least two hours on Friday night as Kenyans reported power outages across the country.

It was reported that there was no electricity at Kenya's main international airport from around 9.45 pm.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA)  attributed the nearly 2-hour power outage at the JKIA to system failures. 

The authority said one of their generators failed to start.

To esnure that a similar incident does not happen again, CS Murkomen ordered the immediate commissioning of two generated at the airport.

" The generators were procured two years ago and they should be immediately commissioned," he announced.

The CS said he would be back at JKIA to meet the staff in order to know what ails the services at the airport.

In addition, Murkomen said that the changes were supported by the KAA managers in order to ensure that the airport continues to function properly.
