President William Ruto now says that Africa must stop being the continent that falls victim to climate change effects.

Speaking at the opening of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Ruto said it is time the continent's approach to climate change is relooked.

He said Africa will use all that is at her disposal to make sure the continent is on the decision-making table.

"Africa must never continue to be the continent that is a victim to climate change the continent that complains the continent that doesn't have ideas. And we have insisted that we are going to change the approach of the continent of Africa," he said.

"We are going to be armed with our ideas, with our proposals, with our assets, and with everything that we have, and we are going to find our way to the table and we are going to sit on that table and give our ideas and suggest our proposal and make sure that we have part of the solution, not just a victim."

He further called on African youths to stand tall and be counted in the fight against climate change.

The President reiterated that seeing youths lead the climate agenda at ACS is important because they hold the keys to the present and the future.

"Africa's youth in my very honest opinion, are solution oriented. you yearn for a vibrant economy powered by green jobs and you possess a strong determination to scale up and maximize opportunities for climate action," he said.

"With the convening of the Africa, Youth Climate assembly, you have fought your way to the table. And let me tell you, that it is the same fight that we are pushing on the African continent."
