President William Ruto has called on delegates of the African Climate Summit to be careful whenever they take walks in the city.

Speaking during his inaugural address at the summit, Ruto said that the city has wildlife kept a few kilometres from the city centre and they sometimes escape.

The president's remarks were on a light note.

Ruto said his remarks were to make it easy for the delegates to move around the capital city.

"Let me give you information that will make it easy to find your way around. Nairobi is a very interesting city on one side there's a full canopy forest and on the other side, we have a wildlife National park," Ruto said.

"We keep the wildlife in the park because we have a fence but sometimes as nature would be they break away. So, while you are doing your morning walk you might encounter a lion please be careful it is not tamed, it is wild."

Ruto who is the host head of state also insisted that the above is among the many things that make Nairobi the best place to hold the climate action summit.

This is the first-ever climate summit co-hosted by Kenya and the African Union.

"Welcome to Nairobi, it's called the green city in the sun. Welcome to Kenya and the African Climate Summit," Ruto added.
