Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o now says that he remains a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) until he receives communication from its owner.

Speaking to Radio 47, Jalang'o said he had not received any communication about the expulsion from party leader Raila Odinga.

He insisted that he remain a member of the National Assembly for Lang'ata Constituency, until the next general election in 2027.

"Chama ni ya Raila Amollo Odinga na kama sijapata habari kutoka kwa Raila mimi ni mwana ODM... Mbunge wa Lang'ata hadi 2027 ni mimi Phelix Odiwuor Jalang'o. Nataka uchukue hii habari ninakuambia upeleke benki wakukope pesa kwa sababu ndio ukweli. Hakuna mabadiliko yoyote," Jalang'o said.

This loosely translates to, "The party belongs to Raila Amollo Odinga and if I have not received communication from him. I am an ODM member... The Lang'ata MP until 2027 is Phelix Odiwuor Jalang'o (him). Take this to the bank because it is the truth. No changes have been made."

The MP's remarks followed Wednesday's statement by the ODM party's National Executive Council that he had been expelled alongside four other rebel MPs.

The included Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), and Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County).

They were expelled in a NEC convened by Raila Odinga.

It came almost a month after the renegade members appeared before the Sihanya-led committee to defend themselves from the accusations of gross misconduct.
