Two individuals were on Friday charged at the Kiambu Law Courts for impersonating public service officers.

The suspects pretended to be officers from the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service and claimed they sought assistance in apprehending a suspect.

"The two had cited frustrations from the Investigating officer in a case of obtaining money by false pretence that was allegedly recorded at Central Police Station, Nairobi," DCI said in a statement

In a scheme unravelled by detectives from the DCI, the officers doubting their claims, requested identification documents, only to be told the suspects had left them behind.

Deeper scrutiny led to the exposure of their impersonation, resulting in their arrest and subsequent arraignment.

Preliminary findings suggest these two are part of a larger network of fraudsters targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

The DCI has urged anyone who may have fallen prey to these individuals to promptly report their experiences at their Headquarters.

"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to inform any persons who may have fallen victim to the two to report at the DCI Headquarters," DCI said.
